Love this. Thank you for your deep dive, John. I agree with the ‘take-down’ sentiments. Been writing about it for some time now, not all on Medium.

The first of your three categories—time—is as you say; it’s us who aren’t yet aware that there is only a present. Eckhart Tolle describes it eloquently in The Power of Now. Re: God and money, the way you talk about it is a promise, more than a prevalent fact; it’s not yet how most of us act. I agree entirely that the time for both—as convenient as they’ve been—has passed, if we are to evolve beyond self-limit and self-/mutual destruction.

They are both now toxic to our continued evolution. Like training wheels, it’s time for them to come off. Funny enough, some of the pre-monotheistic traditions (animism, polytheism, humanism) still hold sway, and we need to re-acquaint ourselves with these larger ideas/ideals.
