The 'intricately woven communities' I'm waxing about are not 'shtetls'. In fact, if you knew me, you'd realize that the me-and-mine phenomenon you're referencing in Pittsburgh (I also lived there once, BTW) is anathema to me. I seek places of rich diversity and radical acceptance. The larger arc of this story is about relationships and relating, driven by infinite values that bond us (not superficial in-group labels) rather than divisive behaviors (and out-group persecution or exclusion) that tear us apart.
